Title: Network science: Linking the Human Connectome to Behavior
Abstract:
Many studies have been published demonstrating a link between brain and behavior. Recent work in examining the human connectome through functional connectivity studies as measured by fMRI has shown that predictive models can be built across a wide range of behavioral measures. In this talk we will review the basic methodology of such predictive models and show extensions of published work that begin to break down the specific cognitive systems that support performance on any given task. Such work is aimed at understanding the networks that support brain function. This work is also being developed to provide a biological basis for mental illness and to aid in categorization of patients outside of the usual clinical criteria.
