2019 Call for IBS Young Scientist Fellowship

CINAP would like to notify the Selection and Evaluation Plan for Young Scientist Fellowship(YSF) in 2019 as follows:

○ Basic Principles
- Serving as a stepping stone for post-doctorate researchers to grow into independent researchers
- Providing opportunities to pursue creative research independently.
- Yielding synergistic effect by encouraging interactive communication and utilization of infrastructure established in the IBS Research Centers

○ Qualifications: Researchers with no more than 5 years’ experience after obtaining a Ph.D. or under the age of 40 with a Ph.D. (born no earlier than on January 1, 1979) and with potential to grow into professors at major universities and principal investigators at research institutes around the world.
    ※ Ph.D. Candidates must be conferred with Ph.D. degrees before August 31, 2019.
    ※ Researchers currently participating in the IBS Research Centers are NOT eligible to apply.

○ Benefit and Conditions
- Annual budget of KRW150-300M per year including KRW60-70M salary
- Appointment for 3 years with possible extension of 2 years depending on the results of interim review (Full-time work and 100% research participation).
    ※ Please refer to FAQ for details (Attachment 3).
- After physically relocated to one of the IBS Centers, YSF conducts independent research by utilizing research facility and equipment of the Center (Can organize small research group).
- Selected YSF shall commence his/her research between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020.

- Acceptance of research proposal (IBS): ~ Late August, 2019
- Research proposal evaluation (Directors, Research Advisors): ~ Late September, 2019
- Interview (YSF evaluation panel): ~ Mid November, 2019
- Comprehensive evaluation (Chairs of YSF evaluation panels): ~ Late November, 2019
- Announcement of selection result (IBS): After November, 2019
